AL-ANDALUS
the conquest of the iberian peninsula
in the 711, a civil war was broke in the visigothic kingdom of toledo. in one side, were the folowers of Don Rodrigo, and in the other, the followers of Witza, who ask for help to muslims. Wich send people to help them, but when they defeated visigoths, they decided to stay there. And finally. They conquered all the iberian peninsula, except small territories at the north of the peninsula in wich nobles visigoths emigrated.

as the caliphate was too far to govern this new territory, an emir was named. but he had to obey totally to the umayyad caliphate, from policy, to religion.

the dependent emirate:

(from the 711 to the middle of the 8th century)
in this period of time, an emir was called to govern the iberian peninsula, under the power of the umayyad caliphate (damascus), so, he had to obey them, in religion and politic matters.
during this period, muslims cross the pirynees, but thay didn't were able to conquer anithing. because franks stop them.

THE INDEPENDENT EMIRATE:

(part of 8th century - beginning of 10th century)
during this period. the abbasid family take the power from umayad caliphate, killing all the members.
except one, abd-al-rahman,went out of the caliphate, and years later, with only 21 years old, came to the iberian peninsula and named himself
emir of al-andalus, also said, that he would follow to the emirate in religious matters, but al-andalus will be independent
of their politics decitions.

the caliphate of cordoba:

int the 10th century (912), abd-Al-Rahman iii inherited into the empire, and decided not to obey abbasyd family anymore he named himshelf caliph and created the caliph of cordoba, wich capital was cordoba, he woudn,t follow to abbasid family in politics or religion. this was one of the most powerful period of al-andalus.

in 976 hisham ii became caliph, as he was too young the general almansur led the goverment.
to obtain more money and prisioners, he carried out more than fifty raids against the cristian kingdoms. wich make al-andalus more powerfull

the taifas:

after al-mansur died, fighting continued in al-andalus in 1031, al-andalus was divided into tifas (also called small kingdoms; ej; seville and badajoz) the taifas were always under christian kingdoms attacks (reconquista). for avoid attacks, the most powerfull taifas paged parias (taxes to avoid attacks) to christians, to avoid their attacks, although what they really were doing was to gave more power and mony.
in 1085 toledo fell into christians hands so they ask almoravids for help.

almoravids:

althougt they whent to the iberian peninsula to help, finally tehy decided in 1147 to conquered al-andalus under their rule
however, time later the kingdom broke again into taifas.

almohads:

and the almohads decided to controll al-andalus ander their rule

the nasrid kingdom of granada:

finally, the reconquest, and the christian kingdoms won and conquered almost all the iberian peninsula, except the nasrid kingdom of granada, wich finally was conquered by the crown of catille, (isabel) in 1942

this is my prezi of al-andalus

me:and, what do you think about how visigoths react when the kingdom broke into a civil war

an almohad:º well, i think that i would never ask for help, yes, i know that they needed but it was not a good idea

m: then, the muslims enter in the penisula. what do you said about that?

a:i think they did a really good work, although it would be better, if they also conquered franks kingdom

m: and... what happened later? oh, yeah, what about almansur?

a: one of the betest governors that al-andalus ever had

m: and, i know you was against the christian kingdoms, but what do you think about them?

a:they were very astute, they know when to attack.

m: and before that, speak me about the al-andalus society

a:it was a good organised society, as it was totally bassed in religion, but
it also was a little unfair.
